Keeping your child healthy during the school year can be a real challenge. Parents often find themselves rushing around, and trying to get everyday stuff done. Food is usually the last thing on the list for many unfortunately. With so little time left in the day many parents choose to just give the kids money to buy whatever they want for lunch. Dinner is often taken out, or just something that can be defrosted.
There are however several things that you can do in order to keep your child healthy during the year. The first thing that you can do is plan out your monthly meals for the month. Some tend to plan it out for the week, but I have often found it better to do for the entire month. All it takes is about one hour out of your entire month to plan out a healthy menu for your family. The healthy menu should include a healthy, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Once you have your menu all planned out it is time to do some food shopping. You can choose to just shop for the items you need for the week, but it is actually less time consuming if you choose to do the shopping for an entire month.
Another way to keep your children healthy during the school year is to make sure they are getting the right amount of vegetables and fruit in their diet. Since it is almost impossible to keep track of what your children are eating in school, why not make sure that they are given plenty of vegetables with dinner, and for dessert fresh fruit. This is really the best way to ensure that your children are getting everything their bodies need on a daily basis.
Eating earlier instead of later each night is another way to keep your children healthy during the school year. Some families don’t eat until well after eight o’clock at night. After they have finished running the kids around for all of their classes, and finishing up all of their errands, this is the time they have left. Why not try preparing dinner the night before. This will certainly help to make things easier for the entire family. You can choose meals that can easily be popped into the oven while you finish helping the kids with their homework, and getting settled in the house. By just trying out a few of these simple tips you will have no problem keeping your children healthy and happy during the year.
